A workshop designed to teach women small-business owners how to use successful business practices and social media to expand their businesses and brand recognition today has been announced to take place on May 17, 2014 in the Adams Morgan neighborhood, at the Festival Center, 1640 Columbia Road, NW, Washington DC. 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
The event, which emphasizes the key elements of business success – management, financial practices, and social media marketing – is being hosted by Sisters In Spirit (SIS), a not-for-profit organization that helps women live a balanced life by providing information and resources in the areas of health and wellness, personal and business finance, spirituality, lifestyle and Eco living.
According to SIS Vice President, Debra Skyy Samuels, the sessions are designed to provide women small-business owners and entrepreneurs with practical, easy to implement tools to shift their business from idling in neutral to thriving.

According to Samuels, the workshop will feature industry experts who will share valuable information to help small-business owners develop and grow their business, especially those who feel stuck in neutral, just barely moving forward.
She added the event will feature a ‘From Surviving to Thriving’ session that covers how to shift your business from survival mode by incorporating six key elements of a thriving business, a presentation to be given by the CEO of Empower 2 Thrive, Business and Financial Management Company, Sherrell T. Martin.
“The workshop was primarily designed to help small businesses in the DC Metropolitan area thrive,” noted Samuels.
In an effort to meet its goals, the event organizers have scheduled additional sessions to teach participants how to effectively use social media to expand business and brand recognition, and how tap into available resources from the Small Business Administration.
Industry experts scheduled to make presentations during this workshop are Maya Chaplin-Glover, Public Relations & Strategic Communications Specialist, and John A. Leonard, Jr., Business Opportunity Specialist, Small Business Administration.
