Freedom from Multinational Organised Bureaucracy

In recent years it has become increasingly apparent how huge multinational corporations are using loopholes so they don’t have to pay tax on their British sales. As Sky News reports, Amazon sales topped more than £5.3 billion in the UK in 2014, but it was only subject to a tax bill of £11.8m. This is because Amazon’s UK arm only made £34.4m and it is permissible for corporations to transfer their profits across borders so they can benefit from lower tax rates. Although these tax arrangements are being examined by the European Commission, and the loopholes the companies use are perfectly legal it does place smaller, independent businesses at a disadvantage.
