SCOTCH PLAINS, New Jersey (October 24, 2013) – Hospitality professional Bill Clegg will receive the 2013 Caribbean Media Exchange (CMEx) Leadership Award on Sunday, December 8, 2013 in New York City
“I am touched and I am honored,” said Clegg upon learning of the distinction which will be conferred on him at The 40/40 Club in New York City in December.
Clegg, Regional Vice President, Franchise Service and Programs for Choice Hotels International, noted: “The Caribbean is a very special place to me and to the leadership at Choice Hotels International – we will continue to do all we can to ensure that our franchised hotels in the region deliver a strong return for the local owners and operators.”
The North Carolina-based Clegg oversees Choice Hotels’ eight Caribbean hotels in addition to managing franchise service delivery to Choice’s franchised hotels throughout the northeast United States. He holds the Certified Hotel Administrator designation, and has served the hospitality industry for close to 35 years – with Choice Hotels, Marriott, Sheraton and Dominion Lodging.
In addition to his work with Choice Hotels, Clegg serves, in a voluntary capacity, as Regional Vice President of the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association, and is Chairman of its membership committee.
“From assisting an all-woman Caribbean media team’s coverage of Haiti’s recovery from the 2010 earthquake to playing a key role in sharpening Choice Hotels’ quality Caribbean offerings, Bill Clegg is an eminently deserving recipient of this award,” said Bevan Springer, President of CMEx.
Clegg joins Puerto Rico’s Terestella González Denton as CMEx honorees.
CMEx will use its New York fundraiser to help stage its 21st event in the Caribbean in 2014.
