(MIAMI (JIS): Tuesday, March 02, 2010) – The Jamaican Consulate in Miami will be staging a community outreach in Lauderhill next Tuesday (March 9), where Jamaican nationals will benefit from a range of consular services.
The event will be held at the City Commission of Lauderhill at 5581 West Oakland Boulevard from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Persons will benefit from the processing of Jamaican passports and citizenship applications, while a team of resource personnel from partnering agencies will be on hand to offer client services and provide relevant information.
Some of the participating agencies include the Jamaica Information Service (JIS); GraceKennedy Remittance Services; Jamaica National Building Society (JNBS) and Jamaica National Overseas Inc.; Victoria Mutual Building Society (VMBS); Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB); Air Jamaica; Lauderhill Regional Chamber of Commerce; and the United States Census 2010.
Later in the day, Commissioner of Police, Owen Ellington will address security matters in the island at a town hall meeting at the same venue beginning at 6:30 p.m.
The session is part of a series of quarterly outreach events started by Consul General, Mrs. Sandra Grant Griffiths over a year ago to improve cooperation between the partnering agencies and the Jamaican community and provide Jamaican nationals with pertinent and relevant information.
Jamaicans living in Lauderdale Lakes, West Palm Beach, Orlando Atlanta and Houston have already benefitted, while similar activities are being planned for other cities across the Southern United States as well as the Cayman Islands.
