Children’s Registry Celebrates 3rd. Anniversary!

The Office of the Children’s Registry (OCR) will celebrate its third anniversary this year under the theme “Protecting our Children, Safeguarding our Future.”

An Anniversary Church Service is scheduled for Sunday January, 24, 2010 at Full Truth Church of God Deliverance Centre, 4 Shortwood Road, Kingston 8 at 10:30am.

The OCR’s main activity involves receiving information from persons who are required to make a report because they know or suspect that a child has been, is being or is likely to be abandoned, neglected, physically ill-treated, sexually ill-treated or is otherwise in need of care and protection.

After receiving this information the OCR refers the report to the Child Development Agency and the Office of the Children’s Advocate for investigation and action.

The Office of the Children’s Registry was established as a provision of the Child Care and Protection Act 2004 (CCPA) and started operating on Jan 1, 2007. The Registry falls under the Ministry of Health and serves as a central repository used to receive, record, assess, and refer reports of child abuse for investigation. Reports are referred to the Child Development Agency & The Office of the Children’s Advocate. Reports received by the Registry are treated with confidentiality.
