What do you do to relax?
I spend time with my family or just have some drinks with my wife and close friends
What is your greatest indulgence?
Sports cars. I think this really started because my father loved sports cars; he had a few while we were growing up. I remember one in particular the MG, which is a very nice European sports car.
What is the best purchase you have ever made?
My house of course! I have never been that happy about any other achievements.
What is your favorite piece of technology?
Smart Phones… they really make life much easier especially in doing business on the go. My laptop comes next. In today’s environment, I couldn’t have survived without the two.
What is the best book you’ve ever read?
Hearts of Men by author Travis Hunter. Its core message: Real men take care of themselves and their families; and, yes, there are Black men doing just that.
What was your first job?
I had my first job on a chicken farm in St. Mary when I was just 17. I remember how I had to wake up very early in the mornings, or leave school (University of Technology) to pick up eggs, and then drive to Kingston to make deliveries to our customers. It taught me a lot about life.
Do you remember your first boss?
Well yes, she was my mother, Marcia Cameron. She has always been my life teacher.
Have you ever been sacked?
Yes! I was working at a small software company in Kingston for about 6 months when it became evident that the company was unable to pay it staff for about two months. When the staff, including myself, questioned the company’s actions, they decided that we had to go. Best thing they could have ever done for me, I should have left long ago.
Who do you most admire?
My eldest sister Rochelle Cameron. I always knew that she would do great things with her life. She has proven that no matter your circumstance in life, you are the one who determines your personal development.
What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
“God never shuts one door without opening another.” We sometimes spend too much time living in our past failures that we do not see the new opportunities which are right in front of us.
What do you love about your current job?
It’s challenging! I wake up every day searching for new ideas to take the company forward, especially in this technologically drive environment. I also particularly love the time it allows for me to spend time with my children.
What do you find difficult?
Operating a business in Jamaica… We need to make our economy more business friendly.
What haven’t you done that you want to do?
Take a cruise with my family, and travelling to places in the south pacific… namely Fiji.
What has been the proudest moment in your career?
The day I registered Intec Global Systems as a business. I am looking to the day when it will become a household name and a trend setter in the industry.
